Your Torn Year in Review
Torning's December look back at your year: what is in it, how it compares you with other players, how to share it and how to set goals for the next one.
What it is and when it opens
Every December, Torning walks you through your Torn year. It opens on 1 December at 00:00 TCT and closes on 1 January at 00:00 TCT, and you can open it as often as you like until then. It is free for everyone, with no Pro needed, and it goes past the usual 3-month history limit.
Open it from Year in Review, which glows near the top of the menu on the left. On a phone it is at the top of the More sheet, with a dot on More until you have opened it once.
It is Torning's own, separate from Torn's events, so a Torn event's theme and egg hunt carry on around it.
Your year, chapter by chapter
Your year is the last 12 months up to the end of yesterday, compared with the 12 months before. It moves on a day every day in December. Chapters cover:
- Your year in days: the days you played, your longest run, and your busiest month, weekday and hour.
- Level, networth and money, battle stats, crimes, combat, travel, items and trading, the casino and boxes, stocks, the Hall of Fame, and honours and medals.
- Your faction: your part in it, and how the faction itself grew.
- Companies and racing.
- From your Torn history, and every one of your Torn personal stats with a search.
- Your biggest jumps and records, and goals for next year.
Move with Back and Next, the chapter list, the arrow keys, or a swipe on a phone. Battle stats asks you to guess your gain before it shows you.
A chapter whose Insights consent is off shows a button to turn it on, so it is in next year's review. A chapter with nothing from the year before says it is your first year on Torning rather than showing a rise.
Reading your Torn history
The first time you open the review each day, Torning reads your Torn personal stats as they stood at the end of your year, a year before and two years before, with your own key. Chapters that need it say Reading your Torn history and fill in within a minute or two.
Torn limits how much history one key can read in a day, counting every app you have given it to. If that limit is used up, those chapters say Back tomorrow and fill in when you open the review the next day.
Compare
Press Compare on any chapter with a figure. It follows that chapter's figure:
- Torning players: the share of players you beat, with the median and where the top 10% starts. Nobody's own figures are shown.
- Faction: your place among faction mates, by name. On battle stats, a mate's name shows only if their Battle Stats visibility lets you see their stats; otherwise they count as a faction mate without a name.
- Head-to-head: your year beside someone else's.
The first two count only players with Rankings on in your visibility settings, and need at least 5 of them. You need Rankings on yourself to see them. Rankings are worked out each night, shortly after the day turns.
For a head-to-head, pick someone who has published their year, or ask someone by their Torn name or ID. They get an alert and choose; nothing of either year is shown unless they accept. Once they do, you both see each other's year until 31 January. You can ask 20 people a day.
Share
Press Share on any chapter:
- Image: a picture of the chapter, drawn on your device, to save or share. Nothing is uploaded.
- Copy text: your year as one line for Torn chat, a short block for Discord, or a rich list for the forums.
- Link: a public page with the chapters you pick, live until 31 January. Republishing keeps the link; turning it off takes the page down at once. Torning players can compare with a published year without asking.
- Discord: the bot's card in your own DMs once you have linked Discord, or in the channel your faction's leader picked. Each once a day.
Nothing you share names another player.
Goals for next year
The last card offers a goal for next year from each chapter that has one, up to eight, set from this year's figures: networth, battle stats, crimes, attacks won, trips, race wins, level or your stock portfolio. Pick up to 3 and press Set these goals. Each is due this time next year.
Each goal lives on its own Insights page (Networth, Battle stats, Combat, Crimes, Networth's Travel view or the Hall of Fame), where you can adjust it or set more. Counts like attacks won start from the day you set the goal.
For faction leaders
To let members post their year to your faction's Discord server, pick a channel under Faction › Discord › Alerts, on the Your Torn Year in Review card, and press Save. It is off until you do. You need the Manage Discord permission, the bot must be able to see the channel, and the Discord area needs a leader with Ultra. On a server your faction family shares, the faction that runs the server picks the channel for everyone on it.
What is kept, and for how long
The Torn history reads, the figures used for comparisons, compare requests and published years are kept for the review's year and deleted at the end of the January after it. All of it is in your data export under Account › Privacy & data.
