Competitions and racing
How faction competitions and racing seasons work on Torning: following the standings, the calendar and the all-time leaderboard as a member, and running competitions and seasons as a leader.
Who gets competitions
Competitions and racing are a faction module. A leader switches on Competitions on Faction › Settings › Manage, which needs someone in the faction's leadership to hold Ultra. Once it is on, every member gets the Competitions area in the menu. Members do not need Pro or Ultra of their own.
If your faction is not on Torning, or the module is off, the area does not appear and its pages explain what is missing.
| Where | Who |
|---|---|
| Competitions › Standings, Leaderboard, Racing › Seasons and Racing › Tracks | Every member |
| Faction › Settings › Competitions and Faction › Settings › Racing | Leaders and positions with Manage competitions. The tabs do not appear for anyone else. |
Standings and the calendar
Competitions › Standings is the landing page.
- Running now lists every competition in progress with its type, dates and rewards, and the top of its table. Full standings opens the competition's own page.
- The Calendar shows a month at a time with each competition on its days. Use the arrows to move between months.
Private competitions only show to leaders and members with Manage competitions.
Times follow the TCT / Local switch in the top bar.
A competition's page
Each competition has its own page with:
- Its status (Scheduled, Running, Ended or Cancelled) and a countdown to the start or the end. After it ends there is a short wait while late attacks and revives land; a Final scores in countdown shows when the scores settle.
- The dates, how many members are tracked, what the type measures, and any rules the leader set (such as the hit floor or the save window).
- The leader's description and the Rewards for each place.
- Once scored, the Leaderboard points each place earned.
- The Standings table. Members below a hit floor still appear, marked as not eligible.
If a competition needs a data feed your faction has not set up, an alert explains which one (for example the attack feed or a Faction API key) and the standings will not move until a leader fixes it. For Time spent abroad, a Torn check shows how many members' figures match Torn's own travel counter to within two minutes.
Competition types
| Type | What wins | Needs |
|---|---|---|
| Time spent abroad | Most time in the air. Time on the ground abroad does not count. | Nothing extra |
| Turtle | Fewest successful hits taken. An optional floor of hits landed decides who is ranked. | Ranked wars module and a Faction API key |
| Chain Savior | Most chain saves: hits that landed in the last seconds of the chain timer, from chain hit 10 onward | Ranked wars module and a Faction API key |
| Respect Efficiency Champion | Highest average respect per chain hit, bonus hits excluded. Members need 10 chain hits to be ranked unless the leader sets another floor. | Ranked wars module and a Faction API key |
| Blood drive: empty bags | Most Empty Blood Bags deposited into the faction armoury | A Faction API key and the Accounting or Ranked wars module |
| Blood drive: bags filled | Most Empty Blood Bags filled from the faction armoury. Bags from a member's own stock do not count. | A Faction API key and the Accounting or Ranked wars module |
| Revive Rally | Most successful revives | A Faction API key and the faction upgrade that lets members revive |
| Energy Dump | Most energy spent in the gym | A Faction API key |
| Jailbreakers | Most successful jail busts | A Faction API key |
| Xanax Marathon | Most Xanax taken. Overdoses count too, as Torn cannot tell which drug caused one. | A Faction API key |
| Sugar Rush | Most candy eaten | A Faction API key |
| Pub Crawl | Most alcohol drunk | A Faction API key |
| Mugging Madness | Most money mugged | A Faction API key |
| Bounty Hunters | Most cash collected from bounties | A Faction API key |
| Nerve Burner | Most nerve spent on crimes | Each member's own Torning account and key. Members without one are listed but not ranked. |
Standings update at different speeds depending on where the figures come from: every thirty seconds for travel and hits taken, about every five or ten minutes for attack, armoury, revive, gym and bust figures, and about every hour for the personal counters (Xanax, candy, alcohol, mugging, bounties and nerve).
The leaderboard
Competitions › Leaderboard is your faction's all-time table. Every time a competition or racing season finishes, the top ten earn points: 10 for first down to 1 for tenth.
- Columns show each member's total Score, Events placed in, Wins, Podiums, Best place and when they last scored.
- Equal totals share a place; wins break ties.
- Private competitions and private seasons still run, but earn no leaderboard points.
Racing seasons
Competitions › Racing › Seasons follows the custom races your faction runs in Torn.
- On track: races that are open or running now.
- The current season's table, with the podium, how many races have counted, who won each race and the chasers behind the leader.
- Recent results and, when there is more than one, All seasons.
Torning picks up a race automatically when it is a custom race created by a leader or someone with Manage competitions while a season is running. Official races never count.
A season's page
The title fight (or a season summary), the Format with its scoring and Points by place, any rules (such as stock cars only), the Points race chart of running totals for the top five, the Races in the season and the full Standings. A race that is hatched or marked not counted does not score. Export CSV downloads the table.
A race's page
While a race is open you see when joining closes and a live board. Torn only shares who joined once the race starts. When it finishes you get the faction podium, results, finish gaps, places gained or lost against each driver's previous faction race, highlights such as fastest lap and personal bests, and a written race summary. Export CSV downloads the results.
Drivers
Click a driver for their career: wins, podiums and crashes, recent races, form, seasons, results by track and by car, rivals, racing skill gained this season and their garage. You can export their races as CSV.
Tracks
Competitions › Racing › Tracks lists every Torn track with its map, the car stats it rewards, how many faction races have run there and the record lap.
A track's page shows the faction record and a faction leaderboard for that track, the races run there, the best car, how the faction's best lap in each car class compares with Torn's record, and Your cars here: your enlisted cars, best suited to the track first. Torning reads your enlisted cars once a day from your key while your faction races.
Running competitions
Managers run competitions from Faction › Settings › Competitions. It lists Running now, Upcoming and Past competitions.
Creating one
- Press New competition.
- Give it a Title (up to 80 characters) and pick a Type. Types your faction cannot run yet are greyed out, with a note on what they need.
- For Turtle and Respect Efficiency Champion, set how many hits a member must land to be ranked. For Chain Savior, set how many seconds left on the chain timer count as a save (up to 120; 15 if left blank).
- Pick Starts and Ends. Times are read in whichever clock you have on (TCT or Local). A competition must end in the future and can run for up to 31 days.
- Add an optional Description (up to 500 characters).
- Switch on Private if only managers should see it. It still runs but earns no leaderboard points.
- Add Rewards: one line per place, up to 10 places. Leave a place blank to skip it.
- Press Schedule. It starts counting on its own when its start time arrives.
Editing, hiding and cancelling
- Edit works on scheduled and running competitions. The type cannot change, and the dates are locked once it is running.
- The visibility switch on each row hides a competition from members or shows it again.
- Cancel stops a scheduled or running competition. Members keep the standings so far, but nothing more is counted.
- Finished and cancelled competitions cannot be edited.
If your faction has the Discord bot, leaders can also post competition starts, standings digests, results and race results to a channel from the faction's Discord alerts.
Running racing seasons
Managers run racing from Faction › Settings › Racing. It lists Running seasons, Past seasons and the Races Torning has found.
Creating a season
- Press New season and give it a Title.
- Set Races in the season (up to 200). The season starts straight away and finishes once that many races have counted. Later races are kept but do not score.
- Choose the Scoring system (see below). For Custom, enter the Points by place yourself (up to 40 places) and use Add a place for more.
- Set a Fastest lap bonus (0 to 10 points) for the quickest lap among faction drivers who finish.
- Optional rules: Stock cars only (races that allow upgrades are found but do not score), Minimum laps, Car class and Driver class (A to E).
- Add a description, choose whether it is Private, and press Open season.
| Scoring | Points |
|---|---|
| Formula 1 | Top ten score 25, 18, 15, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2, 1, plus one bonus point for the fastest lap |
| NASCAR | Winner 40, second 35, then one fewer per place down to 1 point for 36th and beyond |
| 00Kevins algorithm | Top five score 45, 32, 27, 24, 22, then 20 for sixth dropping one per place to 1 point for 25th |
| Custom | Exactly the points you enter for each place |
Running seasons can be edited or cancelled from their row; cancelling keeps the results so far but counts nothing more. The visibility switch hides or shows a season to members.
Managing races
- Move a race: use the season menu on a race row to put it in another season or in No season.
- Choose counted races: a race in a season has a switch to count it or leave it out of the season's points.
- Delete removes a race and its results. Torning will not pick it up again unless you add it back by hand.
Adding a race by hand
- Press Add race.
- Paste the race link from Torn, type its number, or type the name you gave it in the Pavilion.
- Press Search. A link or number is added straight away. A name is searched among Torn's custom races from the last few hours, faction members' races first; press Add beside the right one.
A finished race is scored on the spot; an open one is followed until it finishes. Only custom races can be added, and you need an API key on your account for Torning to read the race.
